Shakira and Burna Boy unite on 'Dai Dai', the official World Cup 2026 anthem
Colombian pop star Shakira has teamed up with Nigerian singer Burna Boy to release 'Dai Dai', the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The track will receive its live debut at the opening ceremony before Mexico face South Africa.
Shakira and Burna Boy have released ‘Dai Dai’, the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the song set to be performed live at the tournament’s opening ceremony ahead of the first match between Mexico and South Africa.
The collaboration marks Shakira’s second official World Cup song, following ‘Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)’, which became one of the most recognisable sporting anthems of the modern era after its release for the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
The chorus of ‘Dai Dai’ blends English and Spanish: “Feel it, got everything you needed. Now bring it like you mean it. Just like you mean it. Dale, olvida lo que vale. Juega como tú sabes. Como tú sabes.”
Among the English-language verses, the lyrics lean into themes of resilience and redemption: “All the highs and lows, all the tears and the pain. You’ve been there through it all, been through it all, just do it again,” and “We’ve taken all that our hearts can hold and we can’t hold on to the past no more. From the dirt and the tears, we make gold, we are more than flesh and bones.”
The pairing of Shakira, one of Latin pop’s biggest global names, with Burna Boy, the Grammy-winning Afrobeats artist from Nigeria, reflects the tournament’s host footprint across the United States, Canada, and Mexico — a World Cup that spans two continents and 48 nations for the first time.
