Semra Hunter, the American-born broadcaster best known for her La Liga coverage, will lead ITV’s presenting team for Sweden’s and Tunisia’s Group F World Cup opener at Mexico City Stadium, kicking off at 3am UK time.

Hunter will be joined in the studio by former England international Karen Carney and ex-EFL midfielder Jobi McAnuff as pundits, with Man v. Food host Adam Richman also on hand in a co-presenting role. Joe Speight takes the commentary seat, with Lucy Ward alongside him as co-commentator.

Carney retired from playing in 2019 after a decorated career that included spells at Chelsea, Arsenal and Birmingham City. She won five FA Cups and three Women’s Premier League National Division titles — the competition that preceded the Women’s Super League — and earned more than 100 caps for England, appearing at four World Cups and four European Championships.

McAnuff made his professional debut for Wimbledon in 2001 and worked through all five tiers of the English football pyramid before retiring in 2021. He represented Jamaica at international level and briefly served as interim manager at Leyton Orient during his final season as a player.

Ward, who retired from playing in 2009, went on to become head of player welfare at Leeds United, where she worked with players including James Milner and Fabian Delph during their formative years at the club.

Sweden are making their 13th World Cup appearance, having reached the quarter-finals in 2018, while Tunisia are competing at the tournament for the third consecutive time. A victory for either side would lift them to the top of Group F, after Japan and the Netherlands played out a 2-2 draw.
