Sarina Wiegman extends England contract to 2029 after back-to-back Euros triumphs
Sarina Wiegman has signed a contract extension to remain England Women's head coach until at least 2029. The Dutchwoman has led the Lionesses to two European Championship titles and a World Cup final during her tenure.
Sarina Wiegman will continue as England Women’s head coach until at least 2029, having agreed a contract extension with the Football Association. The Dutchwoman has been one of the most successful managers in the history of the women’s game during her time in charge of the Lionesses.
Wiegman has guided England to back-to-back European Championship victories and took the side to the 2023 World Cup final in Australia. She is also on the verge of leading the Lionesses to next year’s World Cup in Brazil, with England progressing through their qualifying campaign — most recently with a win over Greece.
The extension means Wiegman will be in charge for the 2026 World Cup in Brazil, giving England continuity at the top as they look to build on their status as one of the dominant forces in the women’s international game.
England’s qualification push continues with Wiegman at the helm, and the contract renewal will be welcomed by Lionesses supporters who have witnessed the team’s transformation into serial winners under her management since she took the role in 2021.
