Salah's agent insists Liverpool exit star has not decided his next club
Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool this summer after nine years and 257 goals, but his agent Abaas says the 33-year-old has yet to settle on a destination, with Turkey and Saudi Arabia among the reported options.
Mohamed Salah’s agent has moved to dampen speculation about the forward’s next destination, insisting the departing Liverpool star has not yet made a final decision on where he will play next season.
Salah is set to leave Anfield this summer after nine years and 257 goals across all competitions. He had signed a two-year extension in April 2024 that was due to run until 2027, but an agreement was reached for his time on Merseyside to end at the close of the current campaign.
“Mohamed is doing perfectly fine and neither he nor I prefer to discuss sensitive future plans with people not involved in them,” agent Abaas wrote on X. “Both he and I are very private about these things. Yes, people may ask and they may get a standard polite response but that’s about it.”
The statement follows comments from Egypt goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shenawy, a Salah international teammate, who suggested the winger remains unsettled about his future. “The prospect of leaving Liverpool has affected Mo psychologically, but the situation might change and he could still stay with the team,” El-Shenawy told ON Time Sports. “He even told me that he doesn’t know anything about his future yet.”
Speculation has centred on a potential move to Turkey or the Saudi Pro League. Fenerbahce executive Ertan Torunogullari this week claimed talks with Salah had been encouraging. “He was very keen on coming to Turkey,” Torunogullari told Fotospor. “The meetings we had were extremely positive. We had established common ground with him on many issues, including his salary. I believe that if the new management makes such a request, Salah will wear the Fenerbahce jersey.”
Salah scored 12 goals across all competitions for Liverpool last season — his lowest return since joining from Roma in 2017 — though he remained a key figure in the club’s campaign. At 33, the choice of destination is likely to shape the final chapter of one of the Premier League’s most decorated individual careers.
