Louis Saha has urged Manchester United to hijack Liverpool’s pursuit of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, with the Ivory Coast teenager emerging as one of the most coveted forwards in world football after a breakout World Cup 2026 campaign.

Liverpool are reported to be frontrunners for the 19-year-old, with the Merseyside club said to be willing to pay £86m — though Leipzig are holding out for a fee in excess of £100m. Saha, who spent six years leading United’s attack, believes his former club should enter the race and pull off a transfer coup.

“Man Utd should hijack Liverpool’s interest in Yan Diomande, definitely,” Saha told Casinolyze.co.uk. “This type of winger now dominates football. When you have that confidence and simplicity in your game — to dribble, pass, be physical, and be courageous — I love that. I think he can be a superstar like Lamine Yamal.”

Diomande has impressed both on the World Cup stage and across a strong debut Bundesliga season with Leipzig, having previously come through the football pathway in the United States. His reported £112m valuation reflects the premium clubs are now placing on elite wide forwards.

United, under Michael Carrick, are returning to Champions League football next season after a third-place Premier League finish and are expected to be active in the summer window. The departure of Casemiro leaves a midfield gap to fill, while Ederson has already been confirmed as the club’s first summer signing.

Separately, Marcus Rashford’s future remains unresolved after a complicated loan spell at Barcelona. The 28-year-old England forward scored in the Three Lions’ opening World Cup win against Croatia, but Barcelona chose not to exercise their £26m purchase option, which has since expired.

A return to the Nou Camp on a new loan has been discussed, but German outlet Bild reports that Bayern Munich have now entered the picture. Bayern are said to have contacted Rashford’s representatives after missing out on Anthony Gordon, who has joined Barcelona. Wage demands are, however, reported to be a significant obstacle to any deal with the Bundesliga giants.
