Liverpool’s summer of upheaval continued when physical performance coach Ruben Peeters confirmed his departure from Anfield, days after the club announced manager Arne Slot had left with immediate effect and that defender Ibrahima Konate would not be renewing his contract.

Peeters joined Liverpool in 2024 as the club’s lead physical performance coach, arriving alongside Slot as part of the Dutchman’s backroom staff following his move from Feyenoord. In a statement posted on LinkedIn, Peeters confirmed he would be leaving at the end of the season.

“After two unforgettable seasons at Liverpool FC, it is time to say goodbye,” Peeters wrote. “Winning the Premier League together will always be a special memory and the ultimate highlight of this incredible journey. But above all, I’m grateful for two years of going to work every day with such enthusiasm, surrounded by amazing colleagues and great people. Thank you to everyone at Liverpool FC for the trust, support and unforgettable moments.”

The departures compound a significant period of transition at Anfield. Liverpool confirmed on Saturday that they had parted ways with Slot and had already begun searching for his successor. Former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has emerged as the early frontrunner for the role, with the club widely expected to open talks with him in the coming days.

Konate’s exit was confirmed separately by the club, with the France international set to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of June. Signed from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021, the centre-back made 183 appearances and scored seven goals across five seasons on Merseyside. His honours with the club include the 2024-25 Premier League title, the FA Cup, two Carabao Cups, and the FA Community Shield.

“Konate will depart with our gratitude and appreciation,” Liverpool’s statement read.

With Slot, Peeters, and Konate all confirmed as leaving, Liverpool face a substantial rebuilding task both on the pitch and in the dugout ahead of next season.
