Robinson open to Fulham exit as Man United weigh £28m left-back move
Antonee Robinson has said he would leave Fulham if a club met his asking price, with Manchester United emerging as a serious suitor. The 28-year-old American is valued at around £28m and is competing for attention alongside Newcastle's Lewis Hall.
Antonee Robinson has indicated he would be willing to leave Fulham this summer if the right offer arrives, with Manchester United identified as a potential destination and a fee of around £28 million mooted for the United States international.
Robinson, 28, has been a consistent presence at Craven Cottage since joining from Wigan Athletic in 2020, registering four goals and 22 assists across 215 appearances. His performances for the USMNT at the World Cup have heightened interest in the left-back, drawing United into the picture alongside Newcastle’s Lewis Hall, who the club continue to monitor.
Speaking to Marca in 2024, Robinson was candid about his situation. “I’m very happy here,” he said. “The fact that there is interest from other teams is great. Obviously, it all comes down to whether someone wants me enough to pay what Fulham would ask. So, if the club sees it as a good idea, I would leave.”
New United manager Michael Carrick is understood to be prioritising the left-back position ahead of next season. Luke Shaw remains the only senior option in that role, while Tyrell Malacia is departing as a free agent and Patrick Dorgu is expected to operate further forward under Carrick’s system.
Robinson is considered the more affordable of United’s reported targets, with Hall commanding a potentially higher price from Newcastle. At approximately £28m, Fulham’s valuation appears within reach — though the timing of any deal may be complicated by upheaval at Craven Cottage. Marco Silva has departed as manager, with Alvaro Arbeloa reported to be in advanced talks to succeed him, introducing uncertainty around the club’s transfer plans.
Former boss Silva was effusive in his assessment of Robinson’s development, particularly his defensive work. “He never stops going up and down, and, on top of that, in attack, he is decisive,” Silva said. “I would highlight, above all, the way in which he has been improving in our defensive process. He had to defend many one-on-one situations with Salah and, despite having a yellow card since the 27th minute, he was brave and aggressive, in a good way.”
With Robinson continuing to impress on the international stage, United may need to move quickly if they are serious about securing his signature before rival interest grows.
