Retired UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman steps into the commentary booth at DWCS

Chris Weidman, the former UFC middleweight champion, will make his commentary debut on Week 5 of Dana White’s Contender Series Season 10 on September 8 at Meta Apex in Las Vegas, according to MMA Junkie. The 42-year-old will join Laura Sanko and play-by-play announcer Dan Hellie in the three-person booth for the five-fight card.

The move marks a natural progression for Weidman, who has built a steady media presence since retiring from competition. He has served as a desk analyst for UFC events and become a regular fixture on pre-fight weigh-in shows. His profile grew further through Paramount’s “Deep Waters” podcast, where he discusses combat sports alongside Dustin Poirier, Jorge Masvidal, and Din Thomas.

Weidman last competed in December 2024, suffering a second-round TKO loss to Eryk Anders. He closed out his MMA career with a 16-8 record overall, going 12-8 inside the UFC, and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.
