Real Madrid target Olise in €165m move Bayern insist will never happen
Florentino Pérez has identified Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise as his primary summer target, with Real Madrid prepared to bid up to €165m. Bayern, however, hold a contract until 2029 with no release clause and have publicly declared the 23-year-old unsellable.
Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has identified Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise as his number one summer transfer target, with ESPN reporting Madrid are prepared to table a bid of €150m–€165m — a figure that would surpass the club’s existing transfer record. Bayern, however, have made clear they have no intention of selling.
The pursuit is unfolding against the backdrop of Madrid’s presidential election, in which Pérez publicly promised to make the largest single investment in the club’s history — at least €150m on a new signing — if confirmed in office. He told Spanish television programme Horizonte on Tuesday that the target is not a Premier League player, a description consistent with the France international.
The obstacle is considerable. Olise signed a contract at the Allianz Arena running until June 2029, and that deal contains no release clause, leaving Bayern in full control of any negotiation. Both transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano and Bayern insider Christian Falk have reported that the Bundesliga club regard Olise as unsellable and will not entertain offers regardless of the fee involved. Analyst Nedum Onuoha, cited in the ESPN piece, echoed that view, suggesting Bayern remains the best destination for Olise despite the speculation.
Olise, 23, joined Bayern from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024 and has quickly established himself as one of Europe’s most dangerous wide forwards. His performance in the Champions League quarter-final first leg at the Bernabéu is reported to have been the moment that pushed him to the top of Pérez’s wishlist.
Madrid are said to be planning to move quickly on transfers immediately after the election result is confirmed. Whether a formal approach for Olise follows will depend entirely on Bayern’s willingness to open talks — a prospect that, given their public stance, currently appears remote.
Olise is not short of admirers elsewhere. Manchester City and Liverpool have both been credited with interest, with Liverpool reportedly monitoring him as a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah.
