Real Madrid shatters club goal record at World Cup
With 19 combined goals from Mbappé (8), Bellingham (6), Vinicius Jr (4) and Güler (1), Real Madrid surpasses the previous record jointly held by Budapest Honvéd, Bayern Munich and PSG at the 2026 World Cup.
Real Madrid has set a new historic record at the 2026 World Cup: its players accumulated 19 goals in North America, surpassing the mark previously shared by Budapest Honvéd FC (1954), Bayern Munich (2014) and Paris Saint-Germain (2022).
Four Real Madrid players contributed to this achievement. Kylian Mbappé, joint top scorer of the tournament alongside Lionel Messi, was the principal architect with 8 goals. Jude Bellingham follows with 6 goals, including a brace in the quarter-finals that allowed England to eliminate Norway. Vinicius Junior, eliminated in the round of 16, had scored 4 goals during the group stage with Brazil. Arda Güler completes the picture with one goal scored wearing the Turkish shirt.
The record is all the more remarkable as it was established by only four goalscorers, whereas the previously record-holding teams benefited from a more distributed contribution within their squad. PSG in 2022 notably had Messi and Mbappé in its ranks.
This total of 19 goals is not final. Mbappé and Bellingham will each still play two more matches in this World Cup, with the possibility of further increasing Real’s collective tally. Aurélien Tchouaméni and Marc Cucurella, recently transferred to the merengue club, could also contribute, even if their profile makes them less naturally inclined to find the back of the net.
