Rashford gives Gordon Barcelona tips as United's left-back target nears Bayern move
Marcus Rashford has been advising Anthony Gordon on life at Barcelona despite his own uncertain future at the club. Meanwhile, United's linked left-back Nathaniel Brown has reportedly agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich on a deal until 2031.
Marcus Rashford appears to have accepted Anthony Gordon’s £70 million move to Barcelona with good grace, offering the former Newcastle winger advice on the club and the city — even as Rashford’s own future at the Camp Nou grows increasingly uncertain.
Gordon, who completed his transfer to Barcelona this summer, revealed that Rashford — currently on loan at the Catalan club — had been forthcoming with guidance while both players were on England duty ahead of the 2026 World Cup. “He was just telling me how good the lads are there, the team spirit that they have, which I heard already from the people in Barca,” Gordon told talkSPORT after England’s 1-0 win over New Zealand. “He was also telling me about the city, places to live. He’s a lovely guy, very caring. So he was just giving me a bit of information.”
The warmth of Rashford’s response belies a difficult situation. Barcelona hold an option to sign him permanently for £26 million, but Gordon occupies the same left flank, casting real doubt over whether the club will exercise it. Rashford has consistently expressed a desire to remain in Catalonia, making the arrival of a direct positional rival a significant complication.
Back at Old Trafford, new permanent manager Michael Carrick is working to reshape his squad after guiding United back into the Champions League places during his interim spell. Central midfield remains the primary area of focus following Casemiro’s departure, with a deal already agreed for Atlanta’s Ederson. A left-back is also on the agenda, with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown among the names being monitored.
However, Brown appears to be heading elsewhere. According to Sky Sport Germany, the 22-year-old Germany international has agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich on a contract until 2031. The Bundesliga champions have yet to meet Frankfurt’s £51.8 million asking price, meaning the deal is not yet complete and could still fall through if the two clubs cannot bridge the gap on the fee. Brown registered four goals and four assists in 33 league appearances last season.
