Luis Enrique is expected to surprise with a heavily reshuffled XI to launch PSG’s European campaign against Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday at Parc des Princes. Five days after the Ligue 1 defeat to Monaco, the Spanish manager intends to rest several key players ahead of the next league fixtures.

Unlike his usual approach in the Champions League — last season he fielded virtually the entire team that won the European final from the first matchday against Bergamo — Luis Enrique would use the Slovak opposition to give playing time to young prospects and new signings.

In defense, the reshuffling would be particularly marked. Warren Zaïre-Emery is expected to fill in on the right flank, while the central pairing would bring together Illia Zabarnyi and Willian Pacho. Lucas Digne would start on the left, relegating Nuno Mendes to the bench. In goal, Matvei Safonov would be given the start.

In midfield, Vitinha would remain the essential regulator, flanked by young Dro Fernandez — tipped for a first start after several impressive substitute appearances — and Senny Mayulu in a box-to-box role.

In attack, Ousmane Dembélé would return to the starting XI, positioned centrally. He would be supported by Ferran Torres and young Belgian Mika Godts to form an unprecedented attacking trio. Marquinhos and Kvaratskhelia would start on the bench.

PSG’s probable XI (4-3-3): Safonov — Zaïre-Emery, Zabarnyi, Pacho, Digne — D. Fernandez, Vitinha, Mayulu — F. Torres, O. Dembélé, Godts.
