Premier League summer transfer window closes 1 September as spending surpasses £2.5bn

The Premier League summer transfer window closes at 11pm BST on Tuesday 1 September 2026, with a two-hour grace period available for clubs to submit outstanding paperwork after that cut-off.

English top-flight clubs have already spent more than £2.5bn this summer, making it one of the most expensive windows on record. Morgan Rogers is the window’s biggest signing at £117m, with Elliott Anderson’s move to Manchester City (£116m) and Sandro Tonali’s arrival at Tottenham (£100m) also surpassing the nine-figure mark.

Further high-profile deals remain possible before the deadline. Liverpool are actively seeking a winger and have been linked with PSG’s Bradley Barcola, as have Arsenal, meaning the final days of the window could yet produce another blockbuster transfer.

The window opened on Monday 15 June, giving clubs just over two and a half months to conduct their business. Scotland’s window runs slightly later, closing on 3 September at 5pm BST, two days after the Premier League deadline. The Women’s Super League window, which opened on 16 June, also closes on 3 September, but at 11pm BST.

Across Europe, La Liga clubs must complete their business by 10.59pm on 1 September, while Bundesliga sides face an earlier cut-off of 7pm on 31 August. Serie A clubs have until 8pm on 1 September.

For clubs planning ahead, the winter transfer window in England reopens on 1 January 2027 and closes on 1 February at 11pm GMT. Scotland’s mid-season window opens on 5 January and shuts on 4 February at 5pm GMT, while the WSL winter window runs from 4 January to 4 February.
