Van defends flyweight title against Kape as Prates steps in for interim welterweight gold at UFC 336
UFC 336 on Jan. 30, 2027 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto features two title fights: flyweight champion Joshua Van faces Manel Kape in the main event, while Carlos Prates meets unbeaten Michael Morales for interim welterweight gold after Islam Makhachev's withdrawal.
UFC 336 will be headlined by two championship bouts when the promotion’s first numbered event of 2027 takes place on Jan. 30 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, with early odds suggesting both fights are closely contested.
Flyweight champion Joshua Van defends his title against Manel Kape in the main event, with Van listed as a slight favourite at -115 to Kape’s -101 — lines that make the matchup nearly even. In the co-main event, Carlos Prates takes on unbeaten Michael Morales for the interim welterweight championship, with Prates installed as a -130 favourite and Morales available at +111.
The interim welterweight bout came about after a late change to the card’s original plan. Prates had been expected to challenge welterweight champion Islam Makhachev, but UFC CEO Dana White confirmed that Makhachev now wants to return to competition after Ramadan, pushing the champion off the January date. Prates will instead pursue interim gold against Morales, who enters the fight with an unbeaten professional record.
The remainder of the UFC 336 card has yet to be announced.
