Perry returns to MMA to face Danis in Duel Arena's debut main event in Orlando

Mike Perry and Dillon Danis headline the first-ever Duel Arena card at Kia Center in Orlando, Florida on Saturday night, with the mixed martial arts main event serving as the centrepiece of a multi-discipline fight card spanning MMA, boxing, and kickboxing.

Perry, who has gone 6-0 in bare-knuckle boxing under BKFC, makes only his second MMA appearance since leaving the UFC in 2021. His most recent outing in the cage came at MVP MMA this past May, where he stopped Nate Diaz via second-round TKO — a result that raised his profile considerably heading into this weekend’s contest.

Danis enters with a perfect 3-0 MMA record, though he has been far from a regular presence in competition. His last fight came at Misfits 22 in August of last year, a 15-second finish of Warren Spencer that underlined his finishing instincts but left questions about his activity and durability at a higher level.

The card also features former UFC light heavyweight contender Jimi Manuwa, who steps into a boxing match against Chase Shelton, while fellow UFC veterans Phil Rowe and Alex Nicholson appear in boxing and MMA bouts respectively. The full main card kicks off at 8 p.m. ET, with preliminary action beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET.

For Perry, the fight represents a chance to build momentum in MMA outside the UFC’s ecosystem, where he spent several years as a fan favourite before his departure. For Danis — better known in recent years for his social media presence than his fighting — a credible performance against a recognisable opponent could reestablish him as a legitimate competitor rather than a celebrity attraction.

Whether Duel Arena can carve out a lasting space in an increasingly crowded combat sports market may depend in part on how compelling Saturday’s main event turns out to be.
