Perez targets Bastoni, Joao Neves and Munoz if re-elected as Real Madrid president
Florentino Perez, seeking re-election as Real Madrid president next Sunday, has three signings in mind according to Cadena Cope: Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni, PSG midfielder Joao Neves, and the buyback of academy product Victor Munoz from Osasuna.
Florentino Perez is targeting Alessandro Bastoni, Joao Neves and Victor Munoz as his three priority signings if he wins next Sunday’s Real Madrid presidential election against challenger Enrique Riquelme, according to Cadena Cope. The incumbent president this week pledged that world-class arrivals were coming — “They will arrive, as they always do” — and Spanish radio outlet Cadena Cope has now put names to that promise.
At centre-back, Real Madrid are being linked with Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni. The Italy international had been heavily associated with Barcelona in recent months, but the Catalan club froze negotiations amid doubts from head coach Hansi Flick over the defender’s suitability for his system, potentially opening the door for Madrid.
In central midfield, Perez would pursue Joao Neves from Paris Saint-Germain in what would represent a marquee acquisition. Neves’s PSG partner Vitinha has previously been described as a dream target for the club, but the Portuguese international would represent a significant upgrade in that area of the pitch.
The third name on Perez’s list is a more straightforward piece of business: re-signing Victor Munoz, the former academy product sold to Osasuna last summer. Real Madrid retain an €8 million buyback clause on the young Spaniard, giving them a clear and cost-controlled route to reclaiming him.
Should Perez win the election, Jose Mourinho is reportedly already contracted to take over as head coach from interim manager Alvaro Arbeloa. Mourinho is said to have identified centre-back, central midfield and full-back as the positions most in need of reinforcement — an assessment that aligns with the reported transfer targets.
Beyond new arrivals, Mourinho will also inherit the unresolved dynamic between Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe in attack. The two forwards have not consistently clicked across two seasons together, and none of the three managers who have overseen them has found a settled system accommodating both. How Mourinho addresses that challenge at the Bernabeu will be among the most scrutinised decisions of his anticipated second spell in charge.
