Paris FC submits offer to Fenerbahçe to bring N'Golo Kanté back to Ligue 1
Paris FC has submitted an initial offer to Fenerbahçe to sign N'Golo Kanté, who has become an undisputed starter in Turkey since his €14 million transfer last winter. The Istanbul club's response depends on the arrival of a new head coach.
Paris FC has officially approached Fenerbahçe to sign N’Golo Kanté, according to Turkish media. The Ligue 1 club has submitted an initial offer whose amount has not been disclosed, reviving a file already explored last summer.
Arrived at Fenerbahçe in January for 14 million euros, the French international midfielder has established himself as an undisputed starter: 17 starts in 18 matches played in the Istanbul club’s colours. The Turkish club, which has no intention of selling the 2018 World Cup winner cheaply, has not yet responded to the Paris approach. Its president Aziz Yildirim, just re-elected at the head of the club, prefers to wait to meet with his future head coach before deciding on the player’s future.
On the Paris FC side, midfield reinforcement is among the priorities of a transfer window that must also address gaps in attack and defence. Four to five signings are expected according to L’Équipe. The file on striker Matthis Abline has also been reactivated, while the question of the head coach position also remains pending.
Last year, a similar scenario fell through: Kanté, tempted by the idea of returning to Ligue 1, saw his signing fail over the financial demands of Al-Ittihad, his club at the time. Paris FC, eleventh last season, hopes this time to reach an agreement to take another step forward in its rise to power.
