Paris FC ranks 8th in Ligue 1 ahead of Lyon and Marseille before the season

Paris FC approaches its second season in Ligue 1 with a squad ranked 8th in the championship by Foot Insights, ahead of Olympique Lyonnais (10th) and Olympique de Marseille (11th), according to an evaluation conducted at the end of the summer transfer window.

After a first season concluded with a disappointing 11th place finish, the club owned by the Arnault family officially displays the ambition to establish itself durably among the elite’s solid formations. But Foot Insights data suggests that Liam Rosenior’s team has the arguments to target the top 5. The recruits Lassine Sinayoko and Pablo Pagis in attack, as well as Italian defender Diego Coppola, represent together an investment of 40 million euros and form the backbone of the project. Paris FC remains far behind PSG, RC Lens and AS Monaco, and sits just behind LOSC, Stade Rennais, RC Strasbourg and OGC Nice.

Marseille’s 11th place ranking is explained by Mason Greenwood’s departure, without compensatory recruitment. Bruno Genesio is working with a weakened attacking sector: while Amine Gouiri and Igor Paixao retain the potential to make a difference, Angel Gomes, Amine Harit, Neal Maupay and Faris Moumbagna have not yet demonstrated their level in Ligue 1.

The Lyon case is more surprising. OL does have reliable assets such as Dominik Greif, Moussa Niakhaté, Tyler Morton and Corentin Tolisso, and profiles capable of shining in the form of Pavel Sulc, Ernest Nuamah and new striker Lois Openda. But several summer recruits raise questions: Felix Bacher in central defence, Mads Bidstrup in midfield and Keito Nakamura on the left wing, whose creative profile is judged inferior to that of Malick Fofana.
