Outbid by Real Madrid for Bernardo Silva, Barcelona turns to internal options
After seeing Real Madrid snatch Marc Cucurella and then Bernardo Silva within two days, FC Barcelona is exploring internal alternatives to strengthen its right flank this summer.
FC Barcelona endured a difficult week at the start of the summer transfer window: within forty-eight hours, Real Madrid snatched Marc Cucurella (around €60 million) and then Bernardo Silva from them, forcing Hansi Flick to completely overhaul his plans for his team’s right flank.
Budgetary constraints are also weighing on the equation. After spending €80 million in late May to sign Anthony Gordon, the Catalan club has no intention of committing to another massive outlay. According to Mundo Deportivo, the priority would be to first explore resources available in-house.
The most serious lead points to Roony Bardghji. The Swedish winger, academy-trained, is presented as a credible backup to Lamine Yamal and should benefit from significantly more playing time than during the 2025-2026 season. A repositioning of Ferran Torres on the right flank is also being considered: the Spanish striker, trained as a central forward, has already played in this corridor, notably during Spain’s 0-0 draw against Cape Verde on Monday, with unconvincing results.
Finally, Barcelona’s management is keeping an eye on Jan Virgili, a 19-year-old prospect from the Blaugrana reserve, loaned to Mallorca last summer for €3.5 million. Barcelona retains 40% of the player’s rights, and his release clause has dropped to €7.2 million following Mallorca’s relegation to Liga 2 — a buyback that would represent a financially accessible operation for the Catalans.
