Neymar to return against Scotland: Ancelotti confirms availability for Brazil
Absent through injury during Brazil's first two matches at the 2026 World Cup, Neymar will be available for the decisive group stage match against Scotland on June 25, Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti announced at a press conference.
Neymar is set to make his World Cup 2026 debut. After missing Brazil’s first two matches due to a calf injury, the Santos forward will be available for the decisive encounter against Scotland on June 25, Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed at a press conference on Saturday.
“Neymar will train individually today, then with the rest of the group on Monday. He will be available for the match against Scotland,” the Italian coach said following Brazil’s 3-0 victory over Haiti, which came after their opening 1-1 draw against Morocco.
The Seleçao medical staff had adopted a progressive approach, without rushing the player’s return to avoid any setback. The objective was to have him fit for the decisive matches, and the schedule appears to be on track. Neymar is unlikely to start immediately against the Scots, but he is expected to see significant playing time.
Brazil, leaders of their group after two matches, have not yet secured qualification for the round of 16. Morocco and Scotland can still challenge them for top spot, which makes this third match of paramount importance. The Seleçao have not won the World Cup since 2002, and hopes of a return to the summit rest largely on their most emblematic player regaining form.
