Newcastle targets two Maghrebi wingers to replace Gordon

Newcastle is looking to sign two wingers before the close of the summer transfer window on September 1: Algerian Anis Hadj Moussa, under contract with Feyenoord, and Moroccan Ez Abde, tied to Betis Sevilla. Both players are presented as candidates to replace Anthony Gordon, who was transferred to FC Barcelona.

According to TEAMtalk, the Magpies’ recruitment team has already made inquiries about Hadj Moussa, a 23-year-old right winger trained in France who has played in Belgium and the Netherlands before establishing himself at Feyenoord. Under contract until 2030, the left-footer would be willing to leave Rotterdam on condition of joining the Premier League, a championship he is targeting as a priority.

Meanwhile, Newcastle would be in contact with Ez Abde, 24, currently recovering from a knee sprain sustained in early June while on Morocco duty, an injury that caused him to miss the World Cup. Tied to Betis until 2029, the Morocco international would also be favourable to a move to St. James’ Park this summer.

Both targets respond to the demand of new manager Matthias Jaissle, who wants to strengthen his attacking flank. It remains to be seen whether Newcastle will finalize one or the other of these deals — or even both — in the final days of the transfer window.
