José Mourinho confirmed on Wednesday that Endrick will not be available for Real Sociedad’s visit, a postponed fixture from the first day of La Liga. The 20-year-old Brazilian striker has been unavailable since August 13.

At his pre-match press conference, the Portuguese manager clarified the nature of the problem without being able to set a timeline: “He is suffering from tendinitis. It’s a small muscle problem, but close to the tendon. It’s more a matter of prevention than a genuine serious issue.” Mourinho acknowledged he was unable to say how long the player would be sidelined.

The Madrid coach took the opportunity to express his attachment to the former Palmeiras striker, whose name circulated during the recent transfer window: “He received a huge number of offers from clubs who wanted to sign him, whether on loan or via a permanent transfer. I didn’t want to loan him out or sell him, because I appreciate this player. I would like to work with him.”

Endrick’s injury also raises questions about his availability for the next international break, scheduled for September 21. Mourinho was cautious on this point: “I’m not sure he will be called up for the first squad with Ancelotti, but Carlo is a friend and he will call me directly.” Real Madrid has not yet communicated the exact length of his absence.
