Mbappé Caught Partying in Paris During Injury: Spanish Press Erupts
Kylian Mbappé was photographed at a nightclub in Paris with his girlfriend Ester Expósito while he had left the France squad to recover from a knee injury sustained against Turkey. Rather than returning to Madrid to rest, the Real Madrid striker's night out sparked fierce criticism from Spanish media, particularly journalist Antonio Romero on Cadena SER, who questioned his maturity and commitment to the club.
Kylian Mbappé has triggered fresh controversy in Spain after being photographed at a nightclub in Paris with his girlfriend Ester Expósito, while he had left the France squad to treat a knee injury sustained during the match against Turkey.
Rather than return to Madrid to recover, the Real Madrid striker was spotted out on the town in the French capital. In response to the criticism that followed, he posted an Instagram story showing himself smiling on a bike in nature, accompanied by Michel Fugain’s song “Les gentils, les méchants” — emphasizing the lyrics “who is very naughty? The naughty one.” A deliberate thumbs-up to his detractors.
The response apparently ignited tensions at Cadena SER. Journalist Antonio Romero, a long-time observer of the Madrid club, did not mince words. “Mbappé thinks he’s the star of Real Madrid. He believes he can do whatever he wants. Since no one at the club contradicts him, and people even make light of his antics, he feels more powerful,” he said.
Romero went on to question the player’s maturity: “His last six months of last season were embarrassing. He needs to watch his behavior. I’m starting to doubt his intelligence. Mbappé will never be able to lead Real Madrid’s dressing room. He doesn’t have the personality for it, and he doesn’t want to.”
The Spanish journalist concluded with a direct warning: “Someone needs to tell him: this is not Mbappé FC here, it’s Real Madrid. You’re the highest-paid player on the team, you’ve been here for two years, and we haven’t won any titles. You can’t afford this kind of media exposure. He only thinks about himself. He has absolutely no empathy for Real Madrid supporters.”
The episode reignites debate over Mbappé’s integration into the Merengue dressing room, at a time when the club has won no trophies since the Frenchman’s arrival.
