Already qualified for Euro 2027 U21, France's young side concluded their qualifying campaign with a dominant 7-1 victory over Switzerland on Tuesday, led by Mathys Tel who scored a hat-trick and finished with eight goals across the entire qualifying phase.
France U21 wrapped up their qualifying campaign for Euro 2027 U21 with a dominant offensive display, crushing Switzerland 7-1 on Tuesday in the tenth and final matchday. Already assured of qualification following their victory against Luxembourg three days earlier (3-2), Gérald Baticle’s side showed complete freedom.
Mathys Tel set the tone in the tenth minute by opening the scoring, before Noé Lebreton doubled the lead (2-0, 14th). The Tottenham striker struck again just before half-time to make it 3-0 (40th), scoring the entire first half by himself.
The second half saw no change in the dynamic. Dehmaine Tabibou extended the lead from a Tel pass (4-0, 51st), before Swiss player Liam Chipperfield briefly reduced the deficit (4-1, 53rd). Tel immediately responded by completing his hat-trick (5-1, 59th), finishing the qualifying phase with eight goals to his name, the tournament’s fourth-highest scorer.
Valentin Atangana, already credited with two assists, added a third for Steve Ngoura (6-1, 64th). Kevin Danois scored the 7-1 goal in added time (90+1) to cap off the demonstration.
Euro U21 2027 will be held in Albania and Serbia from June 16 to July 3, 2027.
