Manchester United to face AC Milan, PSG and Atletico Madrid in five-country pre-season tour
Manchester United have confirmed a six-game pre-season schedule spanning five countries, culminating in a friendly against AC Milan in Wroclaw, Poland, on 15 August — days before the new Premier League season begins.
Manchester United will round off their pre-season preparations with a high-profile friendly against AC Milan in Wroclaw, Poland, on 15 August, the club has confirmed, completing a demanding summer tour that takes in five countries and six cities.
The schedule opens on 18 July when United face Wrexham in Helsinki, before a trip to Trondheim, Norway, to play Rosenborg the following Friday. The tour then moves into August with two fixtures in Sweden: a Snapdragon Cup match against Atletico Madrid in Stockholm on 1 August, followed by a meeting with Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg on 8 August. United also take on Premier League rivals Leeds in Dublin on 12 August before the Milan finale.
Director of football Jason Wilcox said the fixtures would serve both competitive and commercial purposes. “We’re excited to be concluding our pre-season tour in Wroclaw, Poland, with a big game against AC Milan,” he said. “With fixtures now confirmed across five countries and six fantastic cities, these matches will provide strong preparation for the 2026-27 season and a valuable opportunity to connect with our incredible fans across Europe.”
The pre-season programme arrives at a pivotal moment for the club. United confirmed the appointment of Michael Carrick as permanent head coach last month, and chief executive Omar Berrada has outlined an ambitious but disciplined approach to summer recruitment.
Berrada said United have already agreed a £35 million fee with Atalanta for Brazilian midfielder Ederson, with further additions expected. He insisted the club would not be swayed by external pressure when shaping the squad. “We have a clear plan,” Berrada said. “We have to be really disciplined — we know what we can invest and we have to stick to that. It’s very important that you don’t let the market or the agents dictate what we should be doing.”
Berrada added that last summer’s recruitment template — which brought in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens — would be replicated, with the club seeking a blend of Premier League-proven experience and emerging talent from other leagues.
