Manchester United sign 16-year-old Isaac Konde after forward rejects Liverpool scholarship

Manchester United have signed 16-year-old winger Isaac Konde from Liverpool, with the teenager choosing to reject scholarship terms at Anfield in favour of a move to Old Trafford, wrapping up the club’s summer academy recruitment.

Konde, a versatile forward capable of playing on the left, through the middle and down the right, had already featured regularly for Liverpool’s Under-18 side towards the end of the 2024/25 campaign. He will now link up with Darren Fletcher’s United U18 team after the September international break, with the side currently sitting third in the Premier League North, six points behind Manchester City.

“Manchester United have agreed the signing of winger Isaac Konde,” the club confirmed in a statement. “The talented youngster has joined after leaving Liverpool. Everyone at the club would like to welcome Isaac to United and wish him the very best of luck.”

Konde is not the only new face in Fletcher’s squad. United have also recruited Karim Cassim, 17, and David Eze, 16, from city rivals Manchester City, further bolstering a group that already includes notable prospects Kai Rooney and Jayce Carrick.

All three new signings could feature in the FA Youth Cup this season, giving academy followers an early opportunity to assess the fresh talent.

Off the pitch, United have made a conscious effort to enhance the signing experience for young players and their families. The new recruits received a guided tour of Old Trafford, taking in the club’s history and the academy’s role within it, and were each presented with a club blazer — part of a broader push to make signing day more meaningful for teenagers committing to the club at a formative stage of their development.
