Manchester United are preparing a combined £69m in transfer bids for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga and Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde, according to journalist PacoJo Delgado, who cites an intermediary familiar with the club’s plans ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

Delgado claims United will look to secure Camavinga for £43m, with a separate £26m offer for Balde also being readied. The moves would represent a significant late push in what has already been a busy summer at Old Trafford under Michael Carrick.

United have already added Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba — the latter arriving from Brighton for £70m — to strengthen midfield, while goalkeeper Karl Darlow joined on a free transfer as cover for Senee Lammens. The reported pursuit of Camavinga therefore appears to run counter to the club’s recent investment in the engine room, and the article itself notes a deal for the Frenchman looks unlikely given how well-stocked United now are in central midfield.

The Balde link carries more logic. Luke Shaw, 31, is entering the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, and United have been searching for a long-term successor at left-back. Attempts to sign Lewis Hall from Newcastle United have stalled after the Magpies made clear they have no intention of selling the 21-year-old.

Balde, 22, has emerged as an alternative. The Barcelona academy graduate has fallen out of favour under Hansi Flick this season and has reportedly instructed his agent, Jorge Mendes, to find him a new club before the window shuts.

United’s activity in the final days of the window may not stop at defensive reinforcement. Joshua Zirkzee’s departure from the club looks increasingly likely, with the Dutch forward having struggled to make an impact since joining from Bologna two years ago. Juventus, Fiorentina and Como have all been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, and his exit would free up funds — and a squad place — for further attacking additions before Tuesday’s deadline.
