Manchester United post £37.7m operating profit as Berrada hails Champions League return
Manchester United recorded an operating profit of £37.7 million for the nine months to 31 March 2026, reversing a £3.2 million loss over the same period a year earlier. CEO Omar Berrada credited cost-cutting measures and improved Premier League performances under Michael Carrick.
Manchester United posted an operating profit of £37.7 million for the nine months ending 31 March 2026, the club confirmed in their latest quarterly financial results — a sharp turnaround from the £3.2 million operating loss recorded over the equivalent period in 2025.
The club attributed the improvement to a combination of cost-cutting and headcount reductions implemented under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s ownership, alongside increased revenue driven by stronger results in the Premier League. United finished third in the top flight, securing a return to the UEFA Champions League for next season.
Chief executive Omar Berrada said the club felt “very positive” about its trajectory. “Finishing third in the Premier League and securing qualification to next season’s UEFA Champions League is testament to our men’s team’s improved form on the pitch,” he said in a statement accompanying the results.
Berrada also praised interim head coach Michael Carrick, who took charge for 17 games. “Michael Carrick has done an excellent job in the 17 games he has overseen and we are delighted that he will continue as Head Coach,” Berrada added.
Beyond the first team, Berrada highlighted progress across the wider club. The women’s team reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League and the final of the League Cup for the first time, while the academy sides reached the FA Youth Cup and PL2 play-off finals.
United also confirmed in the statement that the club remains compliant with both the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules and UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.
