Manchester United monitoring Ndiaye and Rogers as summer transfer options emerge
Manchester United have placed Everton's Iliman Ndiaye and Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers on their transfer shortlist, though neither deal is considered imminent as the club's CEO stresses financial discipline heading into the summer window.
Manchester United are monitoring Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye and Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers as potential summer signings, though neither pursuit has advanced beyond the shortlisting stage, according to reports from the Mirror.
Ndiaye has been linked with Old Trafford since January, with his name resurfacing in March as United assessed attacking reinforcements. The Senegal international is under contract at Everton for a further three years, and the Merseyside club have already held talks over a new deal — a position that leaves them under little pressure to sell. United’s interest in the left-wing position is also reported to be less urgent than it was during the winter window.
Rogers represents a more expensive proposition. Aston Villa regard the 23-year-old as a key asset following their Europa League triumph under Unai Emery, though the club could consider selling if the fee helps fund broader squad investment this summer. RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande was also mentioned as a potential option in advanced positions, but the Ivorian is currently expected to join Liverpool.
United chief executive Omar Berrada set the tone for the club’s approach in an interview this week, warning against overpaying in a market that has previously delivered poor returns. “We have to be really disciplined,” Berrada said. “We have a plan, we know what we can invest and we need to stick to it.”
Berrada acknowledged that some investments would be made with a longer horizon in mind. “In some cases, we may decide to make an investment knowing it is the right thing, not for the next two or three years but the next 10,” he added. “It’s very important you don’t let the market or the agents dictate what we should be doing.”
The comments suggest United will be selective rather than reactive in the coming window, with Ndiaye and Rogers among several names being assessed rather than primary targets with bids imminent.
