Manchester United are monitoring West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville as a potential summer signing, with the club also in advanced pursuit of Hammers midfielder Mateus Fernandes — a combination that could result in a double transfer from the relegated London side.

Summerville, 24, is valued at approximately £50 million by West Ham, who dropped to the Championship this season after winning just 10 league games and ending a 14-year stay in the top flight. The Dutch international is currently representing the Netherlands at the World Cup, where he scored in their opening group-stage match — a 2-2 draw against Japan on Sunday.

United’s interest in the left-wing position dates back to January, when the club explored a move for Antoine Semenyo before he joined Manchester City. With that option gone, Summerville has emerged as one of the names on their shortlist for the role.

Patrick Dorgu provided encouraging glimpses on the left flank after his January arrival, scoring against both City and Arsenal, but a hamstring injury sustained at the Emirates sidelined him for nine weeks and curtailed his run in the position. That limited sample has left United keen to add further competition and depth on that side.

Alongside the Summerville interest, United are pushing to sign Fernandes from West Ham as a midfield option, with the Portuguese player considered a viable alternative to Elliot Anderson after United stepped back from a deal for the Newcastle man due to Nottingham Forest’s asking price.

Summerville joined West Ham from Leeds United in the summer of 2024 for £25 million, having been named Championship Player of the Year for the 2023/24 season. He contributed seven goals and five assists for the Hammers last season despite their relegation.

West Ham have maintained they are under no obligation to sell their key players, but their drop to the second tier has made several of their squad members attainable targets for Premier League clubs this window.
