Manchester United eye £130m double raid on West Ham and Bundesliga for World Cup stars
Manchester United are targeting West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville and Germany midfielder Felix Nmecha as Michael Carrick looks to strengthen his squad this summer, with the pair impressing at the World Cup in North America.
Manchester United are pursuing a potential £130 million double swoop this summer, with West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville and Germany midfielder Felix Nmecha the latest names linked to Old Trafford as Michael Carrick’s first transfer window gathers pace.
Summerville has emerged as a serious target after The Athletic reported that United decision-makers have taken notice of the Netherlands international. West Ham, who are under pressure to raise around £120 million in player sales following their Premier League relegation, are expected to demand approximately £50 million for the 24-year-old — nearly double the £25 million they paid Leeds for him in August 2024.
The winger has done his prospects no harm at the World Cup, scoring his first international goal in the Netherlands’ 2-2 draw against Japan. United have used Matheus Cunha on the left flank intermittently but would prefer to deploy the Brazilian in a more central role, making Summerville a logical fit for the position.
Carrick’s side had targeted Antoine Semenyo for the left-wing berth in January before losing out to Manchester City, and Summerville currently faces less competition from rival clubs. United have already signalled to West Ham that they will not be held to ransom in their separate pursuit of Portugal midfielder Mateus Fernandes, valued at £80 million, and may adopt a similarly firm negotiating stance over Summerville.
Feliz Nmecha, who has also caught the eye during the World Cup in North America, has been added to United’s midfield shortlist. Midfield remains Carrick’s highest priority in his first summer as manager, and Nmecha’s performances have placed him among the names under consideration as the club looks to add quality and depth in the engine room.
With links continuing to multiply and the World Cup providing a live audition for targets across the squad, United appear increasingly likely to make further significant moves before the summer window closes.
