Manchester United confirm Sancho and Casemiro among six players leaving this summer
Manchester United have released their retained list for the end of the 2025/26 season, confirming that Jadon Sancho, Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, Sonny Aljofree, James Bailey and Malachi Sharpe will all depart when their contracts expire.
Manchester United have officially confirmed that six players will leave Old Trafford this summer when their contracts expire, with Jadon Sancho and Casemiro the most prominent names on the club’s retained list.
Sancho, 25, joined United from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million in 2021 and made 83 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals and contributing six assists. His final outing in a United shirt came as a substitute in the 2024 Community Shield against Manchester City. He spent the second half of the 2023/24 season back at Dortmund on loan, then moved to Chelsea for 2024/25 before joining Aston Villa on loan for the 2025/26 campaign.
Casemiro had already signalled his departure in January, but ended the season in strong form for Michael Carrick’s side, helping them secure a return to the Champions League. The Brazilian midfielder arrived from Real Madrid in 2022, went on to make more than 150 appearances for the club, and was part of the squads that won both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup during his time in Manchester.
Also departing are left-back Tyrell Malacia and academy products Sonny Aljofree, James Bailey and Malachi Sharpe. Malacia’s United career was severely disrupted by injury, limiting his involvement across multiple seasons.
The announcement marks a significant clearing of the books at Old Trafford as the club looks to reshape its squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
