Manchester United chase fourth midfield signing as deadline-day talks with Leicester intensify

Manchester United are pushing to complete a fourth midfield signing of the summer transfer window, with the club locked in deadline-day negotiations with Leicester City over 18-year-old Louis Page.

Page, an England Under-19 international, is keen on a move to Old Trafford, and United have emerged as front-runners for his signature despite interest from elsewhere. However, the two clubs have yet to agree the structure of a deal, with talks continuing deep into the evening ahead of the 11pm close.

One option under consideration would see United sign Page and immediately loan him back to Leicester for the remainder of the season — a solution that could help bridge the valuation gap between the clubs. The teenager has featured heavily for the Foxes in recent weeks, completing 90 minutes in each of their last two fixtures, and could still be involved when Plymouth Argyle visit the King Power Stadium on deadline day.

Page made 18 Championship appearances for Leicester last season and would join a growing pool of young midfield talent at United. The club already has Tyler Fletcher and Jim Thwaites among its promising options in that position.

Elsewhere in United’s midfield business, academy player Jack Moorhouse has sealed a season-long loan move to Scottish Premiership side Dundee, giving him regular first-team football away from Old Trafford.

Should the Page deal be concluded, it would represent United’s fourth midfield addition of the window — a significant investment in the engine room as the club continues to reshape its squad.
