Manchester United agree £20m Betway training kit deal as quarterly accounts show financial turnaround
Manchester United are set to announce a multi-year training kit sponsorship with Betway worth £20 million per season — reportedly the most lucrative deal of its kind in football — as their quarterly accounts reveal an operating profit of £37.7 million for the nine months to March 2026.
Manchester United are on the verge of announcing a multi-year training kit sponsorship with Betway worth £20 million per season, a deal described as the most lucrative training kit-only arrangement in football history. The agreement arrives as the club published its financial results for the third quarter, showing a significant improvement in its overall position.
United reported an operating profit of £37.7 million for the nine months ending March 2026, a dramatic reversal from a £3.2 million loss recorded over the same period a year earlier. The club attributes the turnaround to strict cost-cutting measures overseen by co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, which included staff redundancies.
The improved figures come despite the considerable cost of parting ways with manager Ruben Amorim in January. United confirmed the dismissal of Amorim and his coaching staff cost the club £16.7 million in total.
A further financial lift is expected from European competition. Michael Carrick’s side secured a place in next season’s Champions League, guaranteeing the club at least £16 million in prize money and ending a one-year absence from European football at Old Trafford.
However, the accounts also lay bare the scale of the financial challenges that remain. United continue to carry £483 million in long-term debt inherited from the Glazer era, while short-term borrowing has risen to £262.5 million — a reminder that the club’s recovery, though real, is still far from complete.
The Betway training kit deal, which United were without last season, will provide a timely injection of cash ahead of the summer transfer window. A formal announcement is expected in due course.
