Manchester derby at Old Trafford moved to September 13 as Premier League confirms fixture dates
The Premier League has rescheduled the first Manchester derby of the season to Sunday, September 13, with a 4.30pm kick-off at Old Trafford. The fixture change is among several confirmed for City's August and September schedule.
The opening Manchester derby of the 2024-25 Premier League season has been rescheduled to Sunday, September 13, with a 4.30pm kick-off at Old Trafford, after the Premier League confirmed its latest round of television selections covering August and September.
The fixture will mark new Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca’s first experience of a Manchester derby in the dugout. Maresca served on Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff during the 2022-23 Treble-winning campaign, which included a 6-3 City victory at the Etihad and a 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture — a result that featured a disputed Bruno Fernandes equaliser.
City lost the corresponding fixture last season 2-0 at Old Trafford, a match that doubled as Michael Carrick’s first game in charge of United.
Beyond the derby, City’s trip to Crystal Palace has also been moved, now scheduled for Friday, August 28, with an 8pm kick-off. The club’s remaining August and September dates have been confirmed, giving supporters a full picture of the early-season schedule.
City open their league campaign at the Etihad on Sunday, August 16, hosting Bournemouth at 2pm — the club’s first home opener in a decade.
Confirmed Manchester City Premier League fixtures — August/September:
