Manchester City claimed the Women’s FA Cup with a 4-0 victory over Brighton at Wembley, completing a domestic double after winning the Women’s Super League title earlier this season.

Jamaica striker Khadija Shaw, the WSL’s Golden Boot winner for three consecutive seasons, broke the deadlock in the 38th minute with a header from Alex Greenwood’s looped cross — her first goal since signing a four-year contract extension on Monday. Captain Greenwood then doubled the lead herself, curling a free-kick into the bottom-right corner deep into first-half stoppage time.

Brighton had shown genuine promise in the opening exchanges. Marisa Olislagers came close to opening the scoring when she fired at an open goal, only to be denied by Greenwood’s clearance off the line. The Seagulls, appearing in their first FA Cup final, were searching for a maiden major trophy but could not convert their early pressure into goals.

Aoba Fujino extended City’s advantage in the 66th minute with a curled finish after a well-worked move involving Shaw and Vivianne Miedema. The Dutch forward, returning to the starting line-up for the first time since March following a personal absence — her mother is battling cancer — then headed home a fourth with three minutes of normal time remaining to seal the win.

The result marked City’s fourth FA Cup title and their first final appearance since losing to Chelsea in extra time four years ago. It was also the club’s 400th competitive match as a professional side.

Goalkeeper Khiara Keating, named in Sarina Wiegman’s England squad on Wednesday, was ruled out after sustaining a training injury earlier in the week, leaving Ayaka Yamashita to start between the posts. Yamashita was involved in an early scare when she collided with Madison Haley, but recovered to play her part in a clean sheet.
