Man United eye £50m Summerville as Rashford's Barcelona move collapses
Manchester United are targeting West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville as a long-term Rashford replacement, with the £50m deal contingent on the relegated Hammers first securing their own signing. Rashford's permanent move to Barcelona has fallen through, leaving his future unresolved.
Manchester United are monitoring West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville as a potential long-term replacement for Marcus Rashford, whose hopes of a permanent switch to Barcelona have collapsed. The 24-year-old Dutch international is valued at around £50 million, a figure that could rise if he continues to impress at the World Cup.
The path to a deal is indirect. For United to move for Summerville, West Ham first need to bring in a replacement of their own — and that process has advanced with the relegated London club declaring interest in Brighton’s Amario Cozier-Duberry. The 21-year-old winger has just completed a loan spell at Bolton Wanderers, where he played a key role in their League One play-off promotion, and West Ham are reportedly front-runners for his signature.
Should West Ham secure Cozier-Duberry, it would free them to sell Summerville, who has no release clause in his current contract. The Dutchman has made an immediate impact at the World Cup, contributing two goals and an assist from his opening two substitute appearances.
United are not alone in their interest. Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly keen on Summerville as they look to fill the void left by Bradley Barcola, whose departure from the club is expected to be sanctioned.
Meanwhile, Rashford’s situation remains unresolved. Another loan to Barcelona is off the table, and United have ruled out selling him to Premier League rivals Manchester City or Liverpool — both of whom have previously registered interest — while Arsenal have cooled their pursuit. Tottenham remain interested, and Rashford is open to another move abroad. He would command a fee of around £40 million, though his £325,000-per-week wages represent a significant complication for any potential suitor.
On the international stage, Rashford came off the bench in England’s draw with Ghana and will be pushing for a starting role in their Group L finale against Panama.
