Makhachev and Garry both hit 170 as two UFC 330 title fights made official in Philadelphia
Islam Makhachev and Ian Garry both weighed in at 170 pounds on Thursday, clearing the way for their welterweight title clash at UFC 330 in Philadelphia on Saturday. A second title fight also passed the scales without issue.
Islam Makhachev and Ian Garry both came in at exactly 170 pounds at Thursday’s official weigh-ins in Philadelphia, confirming their welterweight title fight as the headliner of UFC 330 on Saturday, 15 August. A second championship bout on the card also cleared the scales, setting up a stacked main event.
Makhachev (28-1) is making only his second appearance at welterweight. The former lightweight champion moved up a division in his previous outing to dethrone Jack Della Maddalena, and he has lost just once in his career — a defeat that dates back to 2016. His smooth transition to 170 pounds has quickly positioned him as one of the pound-for-pound elite across two weight classes.
Garry (28-1) enters Saturday’s fight as the underdog but arrives with genuine momentum. The 28-year-old Irishman, nicknamed “The Future”, is riding a two-fight winning streak that includes a decision victory over former welterweight titleholder Belal Muhammad. His only recent setback came in 2024, when he dropped a hard-fought decision to Shavkat Rakhmonov. For Garry, this is unambiguously the biggest night of his professional career.
