Lyon sign Kaïl Boudache, Nice winger and playoff goalscorer against Saint-Étienne
Olympique Lyonnais have officially announced the signing of Kaïl Boudache, a 20-year-old winger from OGC Nice. The Algeria U23 international has committed to a five-year deal until June 2031.
Olympique Lyonnais have officially confirmed the transfer of Kaïl Boudache from OGC Nice. The 20-year-old winger, an Algeria U23 international, has signed a five-year contract through 30 June 2031.
The timing of the announcement is particularly fitting: Boudache is celebrating his twentieth birthday today, and he had already caught the attention of Lyon supporters a fortnight ago by scoring for Nice in the promotion/relegation playoff against Saint-Étienne. The club played on this detail on social media: “Kaïl Boudache is a Lyon player! And he got a head start on his integration at OL…”
The player reacted on Instagram with a measured statement: “Very happy to announce the signing of my first professional contract with Olympique Lyonnais. Proud to join this great institution and wear these colours. An immense source of pride for my family and me. Now, time to work.”
Boudache made his professional debut in January in the UEFA Europa League. Over the entire season, he made 19 appearances with the Niçois for three goals.
This signing fits Lyon’s strategy of recruiting smartly to offset an expected wave of departures this summer, in a context of debt reduction following the financial difficulties inherited from the Textor era.
