The LOSC-PSG match, Friday evening opening Matchday 2 of Ligue 1, will serve as the setting for a first in the French championship: the referee, Éric Wattellier, will be equipped with a microphone coupled to the “refcam”, allowing his exchanges to be captured and broadcast in real time.

Until now, the on-body camera worn by the referee offered only his visual perspective. The addition of the microphone represents a notable evolution of the system. According to details provided by the organizer, “the audio coverage of the refcam will be used during the pre-match protocol phase and calls to captains during the match”. The conversations recorded this way may be broadcast live or on delay.

This innovation continues a measure introduced from the first matchday of the season: audio coverage of Ligue 1 referees to explain their decisions after VAR consultation. With the microphone on the refcam, the system now extends to the entire pre-match protocol and interactions with captains during the match.

Wattellier will be assisted by Nicolas Danos and Cyril Mugnier as assistants, Guillaume Paradis as fourth official, and Alexandre Castro and Bruno Coué on video assistance.
