Désiré Doué was named man of the match after PSG’s 4-2 victory over FC Barcelona on Tuesday evening at Parc des Princes in the Champions League. The French international opened the scoring with a sudden strike in the 38th minute, before delivering a decisive corner kick assist that Lucas Hernandez headed home in the 72nd minute.

The award could have gone to Lucas Hernandez, who scored and was solid defensively against Lamine Yamal, having not started in the Champions League for two years. But it was the young PSG attacking midfielder who dominated proceedings and earned the collective verdict.

Former France star Bixente Lizarazu made no secret of his enthusiasm. “It’s become the norm,” the pundit said. “These are his standards now. Désiré Doué is currently really the strong man, the X factor of PSG, capable of winning matches when he wants to, and not just against any opponent.”

The 1998 World Cup winner also highlighted the player’s mental strength in big matches. “The higher the pressure, the more comfortable and strong he is. He really has everything in the three fundamental aspects: technique, physicality and mentality. Perhaps he still needs to manage certain moments of the match with even fewer technical errors.”

With this outstanding performance against one of Europe’s most decorated clubs, Doué confirms he has established himself as the cornerstone of PSG’s continental competition setup.
