Lizarazu says goodbye to Téléfoot until September 6, shut out of World Cup coverage
The final episode of Téléfoot for the 2025-2026 season aired on June 14. Bixente Lizarazu confirmed the show's summer break and admitted struggling with his absence from the World Cup, whose broadcast rights are held by M6.
Bixente Lizarazu confirmed on Sunday, June 14, the end of season for Téléfoot, TF1’s Sunday programme presented by Grégoire Margotton, with a return scheduled for September 6.
For the first time since working as a pundit, the former France international will not commentate on the World Cup: M6 secured the tournament’s broadcast rights two years ago, leaving him off air throughout the competition. The 1998 World Cup winner admitted he is struggling with this forced break.
After the final episode aired, Lizarazu posted a message on social media to thank his colleagues and arrange a reunion with viewers. “Last Téléfoot of the season. See you with great pleasure on September 6 for the return,” he wrote, accompanying his words with a team photo. He also addressed Grégoire Margotton, Séverine Parlakou and Thomas Mekhiche: “Very happy to work with you, friends. Good World Cup and then good holidays to football enthusiasts.”
Séverine Parlakou reposted the same photo on her X account with a similar message: “End of season with my favourites in the universe… Another year with the best. See you on September 6.”
The Ligue 1 season had ended on May 17 with PSG’s fourteenth title, before European competitions also delivered their verdicts. Grégoire Margotton, meanwhile, will not be on holiday: the presenter will appear on France Inter throughout the World Cup.
