Liverpool ready £86m Diomande bid as Alisson's Juventus agreement comes to light
Liverpool have communicated willingness to pay up to £86m for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, while agent David Lavelle has revealed Alisson reached personal terms with Juventus before a fee disagreement stalled the deal.
Liverpool are pushing to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande for up to £86m, with their pursuit understood to be the most advanced among Europe’s interested clubs — though the 19-year-old has insisted he will not discuss his future until Ivory Coast’s World Cup campaign is over. Separately, agent David Lavelle has confirmed that goalkeeper Alisson Becker reached a personal agreement with Juventus this summer, only for the clubs to fall short of a fee agreement.
Diomande focused on World Cup
Diomande set up Nicolas Pepe in Ivory Coast’s 2-0 win over Curacao on Thursday, a result that sent the Elephants into the last 32 of the World Cup — their first-ever appearance in the knockout stages of the tournament.
Despite Liverpool having already communicated their willingness to pay up to £86m, Diomande was measured when asked about his club future afterwards. “Right now, I don’t know. I am not thinking about my future after the World Cup. I am trying to put all my energy into the World Cup and we will see what is going to happen after that. I can say nothing about,” he said.
RB Leipzig are reluctant to sell and are exploring a new contract with the player’s representatives in Germany. Diomande’s agency, Roc Nation Sports, has been sounding out major European clubs for months. Paris Saint-Germain are also interested, but Liverpool’s approach is reported to be the furthest along.
Alisson’s Juventus move stalled on fee
Alisson’s future at Anfield appeared uncertain earlier this summer when Juventus entered the race for the Brazilian goalkeeper. Football agent David Lavelle, speaking to Oggi Sport Notizie, confirmed that Alisson had reached a personal agreement with the Serie A club, but that a transfer fee proved the sticking point.
“I know he’s reached a personal agreement with Juventus,” Lavelle said. “The Brazilian is worth around €15 million or so and the Bianconeri entered the race for this goalkeeper with a brazen offer. I don’t know if the Juventus management offered €7 million to Liverpool just because he’s in the final year of his contract.”
Lavelle also pointed to the managerial change at Anfield as a factor in Alisson remaining. “It must be remembered that Liverpool have changed their manager. Iraola probably wants to take a look at everyone,” he said. Andoni Iraola’s first signing as Liverpool head coach was Spain international Victor Munoz from Osasuna, and the new manager’s desire to assess his full squad appears to have contributed to the club holding firm on Alisson’s valuation.
