Liverpool conceded another home draw on Saturday, unable to break down a defensively solid Fulham side (0-0) in Premier League matchday four. Chelsea, meanwhile, narrowly avoided defeat against promoted Hull City (2-2).

Facing Cottagers organized by Alvaro Arbeloa, the Reds never found a way through. Bradley Barcola remained quiet on the left flank, but his compatriot Jérémy Jacquet delivered a notable defensive display, multiplying interventions and interceptions. Fulham depart with their first point of the season.

At Stamford Bridge, Hull City troubled the Blues for long periods thanks to a brace from Algerian international Bachir Belloumi. Chelsea only drew level through Joao Pedro to snatch the draw (2-2), avoiding an embarrassing defeat to the promoted side.

Brentford also shared the spoils at Bournemouth (2-2) in an evenly contested match.

The two cruelest results of the day came in added time. Aston Villa, who appeared headed for a home draw, ultimately fell to Nottingham Forest (1-2), conceding the decisive goal late on. The same scenario befell Ipswich Town, beaten at home by Crystal Palace (2-3) after conceding the losing goal in the final seconds.

This fourth matchday confirms the volatility of the Premier League season’s start, with several top-table teams struggling to string together victories.
