Lamine Yamal's father issues cryptic distress call after alleged airport incident
Mounir Nasraoui, father of FC Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, posted a desperate message on Instagram on Wednesday, two days after an alleged serious incident at Barcelona airport during the Ballon d'Or gala.
Mounir Nasraoui, Lamine Yamal’s father, sparked concern in Catalonia on Wednesday by posting a cryptic distress call on his Instagram account, which has over 1.4 million followers. “Hello to the entire Barça family, I need help as a person and as a human being,” wrote the 39-year-old, accompanying the message with a black-and-white photo alongside club president Joan Laporta.
This enigmatic message comes in a particularly tense context. According to information from Crónica Global, relayed by Marca, Nasraoui was allegedly involved in a serious incident at Barcelona’s El Prat airport, during the Ballon d’Or gala. The dispute reportedly began in a café over a jacket left in a restricted area. After refusing to move it, the father of the young prodigy allegedly verbally abused, threatened, and spat in the face of an employee. The situation then allegedly escalated into a physical confrontation — Nasraoui allegedly attempted to throw a chair at customers — before airport police intervened. He was nevertheless able to board a flight to London afterwards.
True to his unpredictable online presence, Mounir Nasraoui had shared, an hour before his distress call, a video of his son receiving his third consecutive Kopa Trophy at the London Palladium — an event where Lamine Yamal also finished third in the Ballon d’Or voting. Three hours later, he posted a message of condolences for victims of a train accident in Toledo, then a smiling photo with rapper La Fouine.
Amidst this turmoil, 17-year-old Lamine Yamal chose to respond with serenity on his own social media. “It will come; good things take time. I trust in the path I am tracing. Without rushing, with enthusiasm and with the serenity of knowing that, sooner or later, my time will come. I am now refocusing on what matters: bringing FC Barcelona back to victory,” he wrote.
