Lamine Yamal dispelled doubts about his availability by opening the scoring in the 6th minute for FC Barcelona on the pitch at Valencia this Sunday in Liga. The Catalan prospect, uncertain after a knock received in training, took advantage of a chipped ball from Fermin Lopez to find the net with a left-footed chip from a tight angle.

It is the 17-year-old’s third goal of the season for the Blaugranas, who had already scored a brace the previous weekend in the victory against Rayo Vallecano (5-2). The momentum of the 17-year-old player shows no sign of slowing: just two minutes after this opening goal, Yamal found the net again from another Fermin Lopez service, but the goal was ruled out for offside by a matter of centimetres.

The match, played at Mestalla stadium under the direction of referee Isidro Díaz de Mera Escuderos, pitted Valencia organised in a 5-4-1 formation under Carlos Corberán against Barcelona in a 4-3-3 setup managed by Hansi Flick. The emerging understanding between Yamal and Fermin Lopez is establishing itself as one of Barcelona’s major attacking assets at the start of the season.
