Kimmich reveals PSG made him a "truly incredible" financial offer
In a documentary aired on ZDF, Joshua Kimmich confirms for the first time that PSG approached him during the summer 2024 transfer window, proposing a salary offer he describes as "incredible". The German midfielder ultimately extended his contract with Bayern Munich until 2029.
Joshua Kimmich confirmed in a documentary broadcast on German channel ZDF that Paris Saint-Germain had seriously approached him during the summer 2024 transfer window, submitting a financial offer he describes as “incredible”. The German international midfielder nevertheless chose to extend his contract with Bayern Munich until 2029.
With his Bayern contract expiring in June 2025, Kimmich was going through a period of uncertainty marked by a strained relationship with some Bavarian executives. “I had the feeling that Bayern was quite willing to let me leave,” he said in the documentary. This context opened the door to several European clubs, with PSG leading the way.
According to the 31-year-old player, sporting director Luis Campos and head coach Luis Enrique conducted a particularly careful seduction operation. “Paris was a club that showed me strong commitment. A commitment I didn’t really even expect. I spoke with the sporting director and the coach. They did excellent work and gave me the impression they really wanted me,” he said.
Financially, the Paris proposal was incomparable to what he was earning in Bavaria. “Paris made me an offer. The financial aspect was incredible. Really. Very, very incredible,” Kimmich insisted, while clarifying that he didn’t want to make money the determining factor in his choice.
Despite the capital club’s insistence and an exceptional salary offer, the German international ultimately opted for continuity, signing an extension with Bayern Munich until 2029. This revelation confirms PSG’s ambition in the transfer market that summer, even though the deal never came to fruition.
