Jordan Burroughs wasted no time announcing his return to wrestling, dismantling UFC welterweight contender Sean Brady 11-0 by tech fall at RAF 12 on Saturday. The Olympic gold medalist had been away from competition for two years, but showed no signs of rust as he ended the match before the second period was complete.

Burroughs opened the scoring with a step out before unleashing his signature double-leg takedown, lifting Brady into the air and slamming him to the mat for a five-point score. Brady, to his credit, kept pressing forward in search of an opening, but Burroughs’ explosiveness and quickness proved impossible to contain. A leg catch and another push out extended the lead to 7-0 by the end of the first period.

The second period lasted barely long enough for Brady to settle. Burroughs exploded forward with another powerful double-leg, mowing Brady down for four more points and triggering the tech fall at 11-0.

“I’m going to Moscow on Sept. 5. I’m open for a third match,” Burroughs said after the bout, having signed a three-match deal with RAF. “I’m extremely blessed. I’m thankful that Sean Brady even took this … I’m blessed.”

The matchup was always going to be a steep ask for Brady. While he is regarded as one of the better grapplers in the UFC, he had never wrestled competitively before stepping onto the mat against one of the greatest American wrestlers of all time. Brady’s aggression was genuine, but Burroughs’ timing and technique were operating on an entirely different level.

With the win, Burroughs has now confirmed his next appearance will come in Moscow on September 5, where he will look to build on a comeback that, based on this performance, appears very much in earnest.
