Gabe Silva recovered from a first-round knockdown scare to stop Kevin Ferguson Jr. — known as Baby Slice — in the second round of their boxing match at Brand Risk 15 in Miami on Saturday night, claiming his fifth professional boxing victory.

Ferguson, son of internet-fighting icon Kimbo Slice, came out aggressively from the opening bell, rocking Silva with a left hook and following up with another punch that had the Anderson Silva offspring in trouble before the round ended. Silva struggled to impose his height and reach advantage throughout the first stanza.

The turnaround came swiftly in round two. Silva found his range and dropped Ferguson with a brutal uppercut. Ferguson beat the count and returned to his feet, only to be floored again moments later by a precise check hook. The referee waved off the contest with two seconds remaining in the round.

“I feel great, bro,” Silva said after the victory. “Right from the beginning I’ve been saying I wanted this fight because out of all the opponents I had, Kimbo was the only one that feels what I feel — to carry someone’s legacy.”

Ferguson, for his part, was not ready to let the rivalry end there. “We both put our names on the line,” he said. “He got it tonight. We got to run it back in MMA. It’s only right.”

The bout carried obvious symbolic weight, pitting the sons of two combat sports icons against one another. Anderson Silva is widely regarded as one of the greatest UFC middleweights of all time, while Kimbo Slice built a cult following through backyard brawls before transitioning to professional MMA and boxing. Saturday’s result suggests the next chapter of that rivalry may yet be written — this time inside a cage.
