Hojbjerg in Atalanta's sights, OM ready to let midfielder leave
According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Atalanta Bergamo has made Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg its summer priority. OM, forced to sell this summer, would not rule out his departure in the event of a satisfactory offer.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could leave Olympique de Marseille this summer, with Atalanta Bergamo having made the Danish midfielder its priority on the summer transfer market, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
At 30 years old, the Danish international is appreciated by Maurizio Sarri, the new head coach of the Dea. The Italian tactician, known for his demanding approach in midfield, is said to have specifically requested Hojbjerg’s profile to strengthen his midfield.
On the Marseille side, the financial context makes the deal plausible. The Phocaean club is obliged to sell players this summer to balance its accounts, and Hojbjerg, whose market value remains significant, represents a sellable asset. The board would only consider his departure in the event of a satisfactory offer.
Hojbjerg is not the only OM key player announced to be leaving. Mason Greenwood is also cited as a target for AS Roma, which illustrates the scale of the summer overhaul awaiting the club. If both transfers were to materialize, Marseille would need to undertake substantial recruitment to maintain its level of competitiveness in Ligue 1 and European competition.
